Chris Coffland, Class of 1988Phi Psi Brother Killed By Roadside Bomb in Afghanistan

Phi Psi Brother Chris Coffland was killed November 13, 2009 in Afghanistan. Brother Coffland graduated from W&L in 1988. While attending W&L, Coffland played football and lacrosse for the Generals from 1984 to 1987. Coffland, 43, was remembered in several news postings by former teammates, coaches, W&L faculty, and his parents.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 21, at Baltimore’s Cathedral of Mary Our Queen (5200 N Charles Street). Reports indicate that his family is establishing a memorial fund at Gilman School and has asked that donations be made there in lieu of flowers. A Facebook fan page has also been setup in Brother Coffland's memory.

Phi Kappa Psi VA Beta and it members are saddened by his untimely passing, and proud of Brother Coffland's brave service to his Country.
